Hunter IO
Used to help find emails for individuals in organizations. For example, if you want to speak with a resident or program director and their email address is not readily available. This tool can help find or recommend a possible email address. Most organizations use a standard format for emails. In order to use the tool you need to add the extension into chrome, they offer a free plan which is what I would recommend going with.

Add the Chrome extension once you have created an account.

Example
We will look at Microsoft organization as an example instead of any specific hospitals or residency programs. Once you are on the page, you just need to click on the extension.

In the above example I you see (1) it indicates the STANDARD format this organization uses. And (2) indicates some of the emails that were found. You can do the same by going to the residency program website with the extension.
Email Automation – Google Mail Merge
When you are applying to over 100 programs, it becomes time consuming to send emails to each and everyone with copy-pasting emails etc. This next tool can help automate the process to send up to 50+ emails with one click. You just need to follow the youtube video below and follow the steps. Note, you will need to be somewhat tech savvy but this can save a lot of time. Especially if you combine the HunterIO and the google sheets of all the programs that is provided under programs on the website and this automation can help residency research and communication. You can set fields on the spreadsheet to customize each email.
Manual searching – Google
Google is your number one tool to find information. The simplest way is to use keywords while searching.
Example.
We will use a made up program name “IMGNexus Family medicine residency” and the website is “imgnexus.com” to be able to find information on the website you want to customize the search. Like listed below:
- site:imgnexus.com “IMGNexus Family medicine residency”
You can use other features on google to optimize your search to find information whether they sponsor visa etc but will need to get creative. See below some google hacks to use while searching “AND”, “OR”,”INTEXT” etc. These can help find exactly what you are looking for.
